Aussie player who won a Gold Coast NRL title will return home to Sydney
KENTLAND, Australia — In a move that may surprise many, the NRL has named Australian Adam Clydsdale its Most Outstanding Player for the 2017-18 season.
It was announced Thursday that Clydsdal, the Canberra Raiders’ first-round draft pick in 2015, will be returning home to his hometown of Sydney.
He will be joining fellow Raiders’ players David Shillington and Josh McGuire for the Sydney Test match against South Sydney.
It will be the first time Clydsala has been on the sidelines for the Raiders since the 2015 NRL Grand Final, which was played at Allianz Stadium.
The Raiders are hoping to replicate the success of the 2015 Grand Final by having two Australian-born players in the same squad.
The Raiders won the 2015 grand final by beating the Broncos, 33-26, and have won three of their last four NRL grand finals.
