Why the grocery chain Kroger is now selling a “kroger-branded” bag of rice
The grocery chain KFC is now offering “Kroger brand” rice in its restaurants in a bid to compete with the UK’s biggest supermarket chain.
The news comes after KFC said it would stop selling “KFC brand” brands in restaurants in the UK, saying they were no longer suitable for the chain’s business.
“We’ve seen a lot of interest in our brand and we want to support our customers with the right products and a variety of ways to serve our customers,” KFC Group President and CEO Michael Symon said.”KFC brands are a great way to create excitement around KFC, to encourage people to visit KFC restaurants, and to bring people to KFC in the first place,” he added.
“So our commitment is to bring our customers KFC brand products, as we do with our own brands, in the best possible way.”
The announcement comes as Kroger announced it was ending the sale of its “Kubrick” brand of products.
The company said it was eliminating the brand because it no longer met its core customer needs, and that it was “concerned” about the impact that the move might have on people’s diets.
“The KFC brands were designed to help people find and enjoy the best products, and we are concerned about the long-term impact that removing the brand may have on our ability to provide these products,” Kroger Group said in a statement.
“This will affect our ability and willingness to offer our customers, including our existing customers, products that are as nutritious as possible.”KFC has been criticised for selling food with artificial colours and flavours, and has also come under fire for being too expensive.
